January 2, 2021

On today’s best of: Sam hosts former Republican strategist and consultant Stuart Stevens (@stuartpstevens) to discuss his new book It Was All a Lie: How the Republican Party Became Donald Trump on how the GOP was always destined to become the party of Trump. While the Republican Party once stood for principles like “limited government” and “personal responsibility,” Stevens believes its worst tendencies have long since taken over and enabled the rise of Trump. Sam takes Stevens to task for some of these assumptions, prompting a lively exchange of ideas.
