It’s Casual Friday! Sam and Emma speak with Heather Digby Parton, contributing writer at Salon.com and proprietor of the blog Hullabaloo, to round up the week in news. First, they run through updates on the US Economy, the anniversary of D-Day, Clarence Thomas’ corruption, Bannon’s prison order, Bibi’s Congressional address, ceasefire negotiations in Gaza, the NAACP’s call to halt weapons sales to Israel, Alex Jones’ legal debts, the polling bump from Trump’s conviction, the fallout from Biden’s asylum policy, and South Korean labor action at Samsung, before diving deeper into the developing stories of SCOTUS corruption, and the obvious holes in Alito’s flag-waving excuse as he still refuses to be recused from any election-related case. Digby then joins, as she, Sam, and Emma dive right into the obvious negative impact Trump’s conviction had on his campaign (no matter what racist rhetoric has been spewed to the contrary), and where voters lie with Election Day just five months away. Expanding on this, they unpack the Democrats’ unwillingness to take this conviction head-on, once again falling for the weakest of conservative aggrievements, and avoiding labeling Trump as the felon that he is, before wrapping up with some additional discussion of Trump’s 2024 campaign and the horrendous politicking of the Democratic Party.

And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma discuss noted felon Dinesh D’Souza’s unpatriotic comparison between America’s framers and other-noted-felon Donald Trump, expand on Trump’s clear links to Israeli apartheid (and a major funder’s wishes for the West Bank), and watch Trump show off his religious bona fides. Joe Rogan contemplates how far the establishment will go to stop Donald Trump in a segment riddled with truly diverse displays of bigotry, Dave Rubin calls out Rogan for refusing to come out as a Trump conservative, and Steve Bannon’s goin’ to jail! Byron Donalds tiptoes around his interracial marriage as he defends his comments on Jim Crow’s promotion of Black families, plus, your calls and IMs!
