10/6 Biden’s Wall Waffling & the House Speakership Battle w/ Alex Pareene & David Feldman

October 6, 2023

It’s Casual Friday! Sam and Emma speak with Alex Pareene, Contributing Editor at the New Republic and co-host of the Politics of Everything podcast, to round up the week in news. Then, they’re joined by  David Feldman of The David Feldman Show! First, Sam and Emma run through updates on the job market, Biden’s concerning anti-immigration push, environmental collapse, the GOP Speakership race, Right-Wing legal woes, another killer cop not getting charged, and Cornel West’s candidacy, before parsing a little deeper through Biden’s attempt to shirk responsibility for his regressive immigration policy. Alex Pareene then joins, as they tackle the unsurprising – yet nonetheless disappointing – developments around Dianne Feinstein’s seat, also diving into the absolute chaos within the GOP, from the Speakership battle and the government shutdown to its absolute absence of an agenda. After briefly expanding on a hilarious predicament the House GOP has put themselves in, Alex, Sam, and Emma wrap up with an analysis of various left-wing presidential candidacies. David Feldman then joins to educate Sam and Emma on film history, the Tiki Torch agenda, and the real takeaways from Shelby County vs. Holder.

And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma watch Hillary get right back into her prime (giving the right-wing ample propaganda), expand on the self-immolation of the House GOP (with help from Nancy Mace), and watch Greg Gutfeld rally against democracy. The MR Crew expands on the conversation around crime and inflation in the US, Lara Trump debuts her new single, and Henry Kissinger turns 100, plus, your calls and IMs!
