9/29 DiFi Passes & Trump Gets His Way: Shutdown Imminent w/ Ryan Grim

September 29, 2023

It’s Casual Friday! Sam speaks with Ryan Grim, DC Bureau Chief at The Intercept, to round up the week in news. First, Sam runs through updates on the death of Dianne Feinstein, the UAW’s broadening strike, a win for fast food workers in CA, the House GOP’s various sh*t shows, and another Tesla lawsuit over discrimination, also parsing a little deeper through the Biden impeachment inquiry. Ryan Grim joins, as he and Sam jump right into assessing the future of Dianne Feinstein’s seat in the Senate and on the judiciary committee, before touching on the various ongoing labor fights, and the poor coverage that they get from mainstream media. After reflecting on Biden’s debut on the picket line, Ryan and Sam parse through two more of yesterday’s GOP disasters, with the supposed primary debate occurring without Donald Trump, and the flailing impeachment inquiry. Sam wraps up the free half with some of the young progressives’ best moments during yesterday’s Biden impeachment hearings.

And in the Fun Half: Sam talks with Bro Flamingo about labor retaliation, Rep. Brandon Williams gets publicly educated over the government shutdown, and both Elon Musk and Linda Yaccarino struggle to perform on the main stage. Tucker bonds with his old idol Bill O’Reilly, Patrick from Maine discusses his state’s power plans, and Andy from Atlanta rants about Foxconn. Sam from the future calls in with a warning, and Nick from the NRLCA gives his perspective on the union’s decertification process, plus, your calls and IMs!
