Then, Sam and Emma are joined by Matthew Film Guy! First, Emma and Sam run through updates on Manhattan’s prosecution of Donald Trump, Biden’s new tax plans, the RNC teaming up with Ronny DeSantis (who privately has affirmed a 2024 presidential campaign), Santos’ prolific history of scamming, a potential Saudi-Iran deal, and Manchin’s possible run vs Biden in 2024. They also tackle Nikki Haley positioning herself to be Ron DeSantis’ VP before Digby joins to dive deeper into this Republican rift that we see forming between Donald Trump’s crazy CPAC coalition, and the Republican donor class’ attempt to juxtapose Ron DeSantis’ “moderate” fascism against it, looking particularly to the rhetoric about entitlements and the deficit that is coming out of the two camps. Looking forwards, Digby walks Emma and Sam through Donald Trump’s likeliest routes to victory, before they wrap up the interview by tackling Joe Biden’s confirmed and likely challengers in a Democratic Primary. Matthew Film Guy then joins to run his soft propaganda campaign for H. Jon Benjamin, assessing the (once again) lackluster Oscar nominations, and giving his own film suggestions of “Post Tenebras Lux” and “Margaret.”

And in the Fun Half: Ed Markey goes after Norfolk Southern executives’ desire to escape accountability for the disaster in East Palestine and JD Vance forgets that deregulation is actually what caused the incident. A GOP Lt. Gov faces accusations of twink love (who amongst us!) after promoting multiple homophobic bills, and Matt Taibbi gets smacked around by Democratic establishment shills because he genuinely makes it that easy.
