4/16 The Cycle of Police Violence & Assessing the Afghan Troop Withdrawal w/ Digby & David Feldman

April 16, 2021

Sam hosts Heather Parton, columnist at Salon.com and proprietor of the überblog “Digby’s Hullabaloo,” and friend and known pacifist David Feldman. With the former, they chat about the U.S.’s relationship with both domestic and foreign violence, discussing the devastating tragedies of gun violence and police brutality that never seem to cease, and how to get police off the streets, before exploring Biden’s decision to leave Afghanistan by the upcoming anniversary of 9/11, and the failure to take accountability for our role in unsettling life in the region by maintaining Trump’s low rate of refugee acceptance. Next, David Feldman talks his time in the Greg Gutfeld writer’s room, why he’s against bringing our bombs home, and why anti-war protest movements are the bane of U.S. success on foreign soil.

And in the Fun Half: Kevin McCarthy turns a blind eye to Matt Gaetz’s bad behavior, Majorie Taylor Green and Paul Gosar form a new caucus to rally the TradFash, Sam takes on Bitcoin, and John from San Antonio talks how much power the Squad actually has, and what we can do to increase that. Then, Uncle Drew from Chicago calls out Lori Lightfoot’s inflated love for police budgets and refusal to take responsibility for recent police violence, and Tucker Carlson recounts three months of the Biden Presidency, plus, your calls and IMs!
