Djene Bajalan (@djenebajalan), Assistant Professor of Middle East History at Missouri State University, joins Michael to discuss the revelations in John Bolton’s book and the similarities between Turkey’s AKP government and America’s GOP in terms of repressing dissent. Deep state conspiracy theories and other commonalities between Trump and Erdogan. The use of state violence against protesters. How the HDP expanded from a Kurdish party to a broad social democratic party. Mike Flynn’s relationship to the Erdogan government. On the fun half: Bernie Sanders and Barbara Lee attempt to redirect funding from the Pentagon. CNN report on SCOTUS ruling that Trump cannot end DACA program. Eight hour lines for unemployment benefits in Kentucky. Trump says he gave Bolton a chance, but “I wasn’t very enamored” and his book has classified information. Trump says the protests are dying down because protestors don’t know what they’re protesting. Brandon Straka says he was removed from flight because he refused to wear a mask, NYT reporter records incident: Straka said he had a medical condition, did not have documentation to prove it. Astead Herndon tweet says Straka is fabricating his story.
