1/17 The President’s Parnas Panic w/ Digby & Judy Gold

January 17, 2020

Happy Friday! Digby and Judy Gold join Sam and the MR Crew to discuss the top stories of the week, including the Lev Parnas revelations, impeachment heads to the Senate, and the breach of the Sanders/Warren non-aggression pact. Starting with *The Story*: Sam and Digby agree that the Sanders and Warren story is new, but it certainly does not deserve the amount of coverage provided by the media. Consider the fact that we were on the brink of war last week, and the president’s impeachment trial will begin next week in the Senate. Meanwhile, the revelations from Lev Parnas’ document dump shed new light on the Ukraine scandal and the interactions between Giuliani and his Ukrainian oligarch contacts. Digby and Sam go through all the players and key figures involved in the Ukraine quid-pro-quo. Finally, as impeachment moves to the Senate, Digby and Sam consider the limited press access permitted by Mitch McConnell and why Chuck Schumer isn’t railing against the leader’s decision.

Then, Judy Gold joins Sam and asks how the hell can Ken Starr and Alan Dershowitz possibly be working for the White House in 2020? Judy is at the end of her rope–Democrats need to win the White House back this fall. She’s had enough of these assholes in the GOP. They conclude their conversation considering the reasons for having children.

And in the Fun Half: the Saga of American Action Network’s “Stacy,” John from San Antonio wonders if Elizabeth Warren is angling for a Biden VP spot, low information voters and Chris Hayes’ classic TNR piece from 2004, Devin Nunes tries out a dozen lies about his relationship with Lev Parnas, while Donald Trump and Rudy are in the same boat, and if they’re going down, they’re going down together.
