5/1 Handbook For A Post-Roe America w/ Robin Marty

May 1, 2019

Journalist and author Robin Marty (@robinmarty) joins us to discuss her new book, Handbook For A Post-Roe America.

On today’s show: Barr misleads Charlie Crist about awareness of Mueller team concerns about letter. Chris Van Hollen asks Barr (after he received Mueller’s letter) if Mueller supported his conclusion.

Journalist and author Robin Marty (@robinmarty) joins us to discuss her new book, Handbook For A Post-Roe America. Between state-level restrictions and the possibility that Roe v Wade could be overturned, abortion will soon be illegal in some or all of the US. But according to Marty, Roe getting overturned could actually result in increased engagement around thie issue. In this book, she goes over the ways regular people can fight back against anti-choice policy, from making it an issue in the run-up to 2020, to participating in underground networks that help people get the care that they need. This future is neither distant nor hypothetical, so we need to start organizing now.

On the fun half: Stephen Moore “apologizes” for racist public housing joke about the Obamas. Stephen Moore admits he shouldn’t have said men should be the breadwinners for the American family. Alyssa Milano says defeating Trump is the most important thing in 2020. 2011 Mulvaney says we can’t afford to curb debt and deficit. The MR crew gives their opinions on reparations. CA bill would end childhood poverty; visit www.endchildpovertyca.org to join the fight. Pompeo says Cubans are intervening in Venezuela, will hold Venezuelans enacting violence “accountable.” Pompeo says Russia kept Maduro from leaving Vz for Havana. How should progressive candidates approach pro-lifers?
