Good morning, joining Michael Brooks on today’s show is Mike Hanna to discuss the story behind how the Trump administration approved private nuclear development contracts to the Saudi regime.  Mike Hanna helps explain the Trump administrations role and the players involved in selling nuclear development contracts to the Saudis. Under normal circumstances, a presidential administration must first enter a “123 agreement” before selling nuclear contracts to foreign countries. According to Senator Bob Menendez the US “can only enter into [nuclear] force after Congress has reviewed it and evaluated whether the agreement meets the nonproliferation standards required by Section 123 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954.”  The United States has no such agreement with Saudi Arabia, nor is there any plan for Congress to approve one especially given the Kingdom’s murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Mike and Michael then discuss the status of the Iran deal and the recognition of the Golan Heights as part of Israel in the context of new Saudi nuclear development contracts. Mike and Michael conclude their discussion with a look at the upcoming Israeli elections, why some Israelis are concerned about Trump’s unflappable support for Bibi Netanyahu’s Likud party, and the Democratic party’s shifting demographics and feelings towards Israel.
