Author Jonathan Tepper (@jtepper2) joins us to discuss his new book, The Myth of Capitalism: Monopolies and the Death of Competition. The idea of “free market competition” is heavily associated with American capitalism. And yet, everywhere you turn, our lives are dominated by monopolies and duopolies, especially in the tech sector. In this book, Tepper argues for a return of vigorous anti-trust policies to restore competition to the marketplace and fight inequality. The crew weighs in with their takes at the end.

On the fun half: Thomas Friedman uses AIPAC to describe the problems with Citizens United/campaign finance in 2013. Rep. Max Rose calls out Republican double standard: “Can’t be chicken sh*t” with anti-Semitism. Kevin McCarthy tweets about Soros buying elections days after Tree of Life synagogue shooting. WV Rep goes full Bolsonaro, implies he would drown his kids if he found out they were gay. Joy Behar shuts down Meghan McCain: “If you’re going to have a hissy fit, we can’t continue.” Surrogates defend Amy Klobuchar for being horrible to staff.
