7/9 The NRA: The Unauthorized History w/ Frank Smyth + Member Archive: Michael Hastings On How Occupy Was Spied On

July 9, 2020

Frank Smyth joins Sam to discuss his new book, “The NRA: The Unauthorized History.” The NRA is one of the three most powerful lobbying groups in Washington, DC, consistently opposing restrictions on gun ownership and enjoying a mutually beneficial relationship with Trump and the GOP. But it has not always been this way. In this book, Smyth traces the history of the organization, from its surprising roots in post-Civil War New York City, to the “Cincinnati Revolt” of 1977 that changed its political direction, to the rabidly reactionary force it is today.
