January 14, 2011 · Majority Report

Guests: Movieline’s Chris Rosen

Don’t forget it’s Name-Drop Friday too! - Did you know that Sam met Jon Hamm (who loved Beat Cops) at Sarah Silverman’s birthday party?  And Ron Howard was there too!

Peeping Sam wants to make sure that you have dressed down on Causal Friday - no wearing ties! (How about Hawaiian Shirt Day?).

Great News Everyone! Rep. Steny Hoyer has solved all our problems by sitting Congress in a “bi-partisan” way - mixing Dems and Repubs.  Is that real change I smell?  Nope just Boehner’s self tanner.

Paul Krugman has a great Op-Ed in the New York Times and Sam uses that article to strengthen his statement;

Even if you accept the premise that the Obama administration could be out in front cutting Social Security - there is still a fundamental difference between the ideology in the parties.

And this truth is the reason to stay engaged and get out and fight.  We now have a deep division in this country about what the role of government is - and it is getting harder and harder to have a productive discussion to find out what both sides can agree to and compromise on.  We are getting to the point where any political discussion is like arguing over the abortion issue…

Next, Chris Rosen, multi-tasker and Senior Editor from Movieline.com, joins to give his picks for Sam’s child-induced stay-at-home movie night.

On Demand - Catfish

Netflix - Shutter Island

Fundamental Constitutionalist Wacko Alert - Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) finds federal child labor laws are unconstitutional and should to be instituted by each individual state, not by the federal government.

Finally, in the soon to be sequestered Post Show, Sam confirms he has re-connected with Jon Benjamin, leaves Jessica a message, and covers some news stories he didn’t have time for in the main show and takes listener IMs - Don’t miss it. FYI - Monday’s show will not be live for Martin Luther King Day.
